I was born in New
York City
in 1979,
and continue
to live
and work
in NYC.
I am currently
working
as a freelance
animator
and am
looking
for interesting
projects
that are
engaging
while add
to my portfolio
and contacts.
My decision
to work
as a freelancer
was inspired by
my desire to work
on a diverse spectrum
of projects
that would
give me
the opportunity
to enhance my skill
base. Freelancing
gives me
the opportunity
to hone
and expand
my skills
while making
additions
to my portfolio.
It also
gives me
exposure
to alternate
animation
techniques
through
working
with a
large range
of people.
However
I don’t
plan to
freelance
indefinitely.
My goal
is to use
the skills
I acquired
through
my freelance
experience
to help
me get
a job at
a high-end
animation
studio
I admire.
My interest in
animation began
with Graffiti. I
used to doodle and
sketch when I was
a kid. I had no
traditional education
in art, so I learned
through exposure
to new stimuli.
My interests were
supported through
my friends by drawing
together. We would
show off our sketches
of tags, pieces
(typography) and
character drawings
to each other. Later
on through my art
class in school,
my interest in character
illustration grew
as I became less
interested in the
typography aspect
of Graffiti and
more interested
in character illustration.
When I was 16 a
friend gave me Akira
as a gift. It was
after watching Akira
that I really started
to take an interest
in animation. The
characters were
basic and stylized
like my character
drawings, yet refined
and complex because
of the wide spectrum
of emotions they
could convey. Akira
was completely different
than the American
animation I grew
up watching like
Looney Tunes and
Chuck Jones cartoons.
It was remarkably
severe and I realized
that not all animation
has to make you
laugh or feel good.
By the time
I got to college I
had made up my mind
to major in ANIMATION. I
began with 2D animation
and Stop Motion to
build a foundation
in animation. Taking
interest in 3D courses
at NYU, I started
taking classes and
eventually changed
my focus. I now work
mostly as a 3D animator.
I see 2D projects
as a privilege, since
its production methods
and look are unique.
